Model to Support Enterprise Resource Planning System Selection

Enterprise Resource Planning systems have been heavily adopted in developed countries in the past decade and most studies on ERP adoption and selection focuses on these countries. There is limited or no knowledge on ERP system adoption in developing countries in general and African countries in particular. With the emerging trend of ERP adoption in developing countries, how to select an adequate ERP system is a crucial question in the early phase of an ERP project. Developing countries can actually adopt the available selection models but the suitability of the models should be first approved in the context of these countries. This study, therefore, intends to analyse the suitability of the existing selection models by taking cases in Ethiopia and will come up with a prototype of a suitable ERP system selection model for Ethiopia’s context.
